Karen is the Principal Lawyer of Nathan Cox Lawyers. With over 17 years’ experience as a Lawyer, Karen specialises in Family Law, Civil Litigation, Criminal Law and Wills & Estates.
Karen commenced her legal career at KPMG, one of the world’s most eminent professional services firm. She then spent many years working as a Solicitor in a large Sydney law firm where she gained experience in all areas of commercial litigation. Karen regularly appeared in the Supreme Court of New South Wales on wind up applications, in the Federal Court on bankruptcy applications and across all other jurisdictions on litigation matters.
In 2012, Karen was appointed to the New South Wales Legal Aid Panels for Criminal Law and Mental Health Law. Here she gained extensive experience acting on defended criminal matters including on sentences and hearings. In 2013, Karen was appointed as a Solicitor Director of a large Northern Beaches Firm where she regularly advised and appeared on Criminal Law, Family Law and Litigation matters.
In 2017, Karen opened her own firm, Nathan Cox Lawyers. Since that time, Karen has been providing advice and representation to individuals and businesses in Family Law, Criminal Law, Civil Litigation and Wills & Estates. Karen combines her large firm experience with her passion to provide individualised, dedicated and timely advice of a small local firm.
In addition to running her own practice, Karen is also a sought after and experienced university lecturer in Law. Over the past 10 years, Karen has held lecturing positions at the University of Technology Sydney, the International College of Management Sydney and the Australian Institute of Higher Education. Karen teaches to both Bachelor and Masters’ students. Karen has also successfully developed undergraduate and postgraduate courses for numerous institutions in the areas of Property Law, Business Law and Risk Management. Karen has received many accolades for her teaching including the Teaching Excellence Award for seven (7) consecutive years.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Laws (with Distinction) and Bachelor of Arts (Politics and International Relations) from the University of New South Wales. She was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2007 and the High Court of Australia in 2008.
